Laboratory Analyst

No laboratory experience is necessary, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees! Experienced Asbestos PLM and Mold analysts are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze samples for asbestos in building materials by PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy)
- Prepare and analyze clearance/ambient air samples by PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy)
- Prepare and analyze air, tape, bulk, and swab samples for the presence of mold (Direct Fungal Analysis)
- Accurately enter and report analytical data using established SOPs and protocols
- Perform independent analysis/data review of other analyst’s work
- Analysis of QC samples and routine demonstration of analytical proficiency
- Perform general laboratory maintenance
- Adherence to the established QA/QC Program and SOPs, including a working knowledge of those required by NVLAP, AIHA-EMLAP, ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and hazardous waste disposal requirements, etc.
Position Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Required)
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or similar scientific discipline and 3+ years of relevant experience in an Analytical Laboratory (Preferred)
- Experience with microscopes (Preferred)
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to prioritize samples based on specified turnaround times (Required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, PowerPoint (Required)
- Excellent communication, coordination, organizational skills (Required)
- Extreme attention to detail (Required)
- Must be able to distinguish colors to accurately perform analysis (Required)
